Bravely Creating

There is something SURREAL about holding your book in your hands.

Something you made and put forth.
It is both out of body and wildly embodied experience.

The process of putting my poetry forth has been a combination of being brave, doing the work of regular writing, and shutting down my inner critic.

Sometimes this process felt like my full-time job…HA!

I talk about Bravely Creating in this week’s Pajama Talk – maybe it will be helpful to you. There are some ideas and resources that helped me.

Do you create? Do you share your creations? If not, why? If so, how does it feel? And have you felt that creating is a holy experience?

For me, it has been just that. Co-creating with the Divine and leaning into my edges of fear that try and keep me small.

In addition, it’s about letting go of any “results.” Just putting it forth as a gift…not worrying about how many people read/see it, how many people buy it, how it is received.

Detachment from the results. hooboy! Fertile ground.

Anyhow, I’d love to hear your process and how you till the garden of your creativity.

Also, if you want a copy of my book of poetry, you can order BY CLICKING HERE.

Much peace, S

What Lights You Up????

Do you like to do things, make things, create things – and has that creative side of you slipped away because of life, lack of time, feeling tired??

What lights you up?

That buzzy, zippy, excited feeling – ahhhh…that is a beautiful thing. That is the Universe whispering to you.

It’s like the banker who writes poetry. Or the stockbroker who sells his jewelry on etsy – not because he needs the money.

Those things that light you up? Gardening, doodling, coloring, cooking, taking pictures, journaling…those things help to round out WELLNESS. They help us to FEEL WELL. They feed our spirits.

I just read a great book called “Big Magic” by Elizabeth Gilbert. Have you read it? It reminded me that I used to be a creative being who did creative stuff all of the TIME!

So I got a camera. And I got some microphones. And I got some editing software…

And the results of which I’m unveiling to my mailing list on Friday, June 2nd. SO EXCITED!

Friends – it doesn’t have to be huge. It doesn’t have to be grand. Invite creativity in – let it come in and play in your body, mind and spirit.

Let it light you up.
Peace:)

Inspiration

Inspiration. “A person, place, experience etc., that makes someone want to do or create something. – Merriam Webster

Inspired. I love that feeling. I feel most alive when I am feeling inspired to do, say, create something. And I’ve been really trying to stand on that place in my life, interactions, business more often. Because it makes it come from a very authentic and enthusiastic place – and to work from that place just FEELS GOOD.

This month I’ll be sharing some of the things, quotes, art and people that help me to feel inspired. In addition, I would be incredibly grateful if you shared with me WHAT INSPIRES YOU? You can IM me through my Facebook page or respond to this blogpost with two questions in mind:
1) What inspires you?
2) Your favorite quote, book, picture that you get inspired by reading or looking at.

I’d like to start by sharing about someone who inspires me with each interaction. Her name is Conie and she does a couple of things that inspire me regularly.
*She comes from a place of love – she exudes love.
*She is a creative – an ACTIVE creative. Conie tills the soil of her creativity in her music, dance and artwork.
*She is a hugger. I am a hugger. When we see each other, we hug.

Why do these things inspire me? Continue reading
